What exactly is Somatic Experiencing therapy?

Living in or near a large city has its challenges: high-pressure jobs, complicated relationships, and difficulty slowing down. Somatic Experiencing (SE) therapy provides a body-oriented approach to managing these stressors, focusing particularly on physiological responses. 

Somatic Experiencing (SE) therapy is founded on the understanding that trauma may be stored in the body and manifest as physical symptoms and sensations. This therapy helps individuals become aware of their body’s sensations and guides them through the process of releasing stored trauma by promoting physiological regulation. Our therapists employ gentle techniques that allow clients to experience their body’s sensations and slowly resolve tension and restriction caused by trauma. This approach is effective for treating a range of issues including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and stress-related conditions. Somatic Experiencing Therapy is less structured and highly personalized, focusing on working collaboratively with individuals to help them find a sense of balance and calm within a safe therapeutic environment.
