Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) encourages embracing value-based behaviors that lead to a rich, full, and meaningful life. Our therapists help clients foster what is known as “psychological flexibility” so they can accept their automatic reactions and remain present in the moment without unnecessary defense. This approach is effective for treating a variety of issues including felt lack of purpose in life. ACT is action-oriented, with a focus on collaboration between client and therapist to clarify personal values and commit to ations that align with these, even in the presence of discomfort or adversity.
